Budget Day
Well the day is finally here - Gordon Brown is set to deliver his 11th budget and probably his last before becoming PM. It is an exciting day, but we must all wonder what Gordon Brown is going to do.I am away for most of today in Wales with the launch of TRG Wales so I am hopeful that one of the other writers will be able to analyse the budget!
This morning though a group of UCL Conservatives (Luca, Jon C and Oliver C) went down to CCHQ to help the Party out in a publicity stunt. We joined CCHQ staff, CF NME members, Imperial, LSE and Kings (90 people in all) to help highlight the stealth taxes created by Gordon Brown. This involved wearing blue suits, white shirts, red ties and Gordon masks (some even had little red briefcases!).
The 90 of us walked down to the green by Parliament (with red balloons as well) to have photos taken and be filmed by members of the press. It was a publicity stunt, but it did highlight very well the problems Gordon Brown has caused and why he should not be PM. After the speech, by a rep from CCHQ, we all released our balloons into the sky to the music “99 red balloons”. The morning finished back at CCHQ having bacon butties - well done team!
UPDATE: Kings Conservatives have setup a special blog here to record views of the budget. Also click here and here for news of our big morning!
