“Back Boris” Launch
The 3rd September saw the launch of Boris Johnson’s campaign to become the conservative candidate for London Mayor. A gaggle of UCL Conservatives duly made their way down to the iconic County Hall for the official ceremony. After being kitted out with Back Boris T-Shirts and placards us dashing lot were positioned round the vicinity chanting and jeering all the way. Soon everyone was whisked inside for the event itself an insightful introduction and video was swiftly followed by the main man himself. Boris talked on a whole range of topics including crime, housing and transport with an air of common sense that made the whole campaign so refreshing. No more bureaucracy and blame shifting, no more red tape and endless faffing.
Boris is running a grounded campaign which despite the self confessed ‘reservation to make jokes’ is most probably one of the most sincere and professional campaigns I’ve ever seen. On behalf of the UCL conservatives I wish Boris and his team every success in what will most certainly be a true good old-fashioned ‘mayoral race’.
