Shane, defeat & Ann

Rugby World Cup Final

The past couple of weeks has been non-stop for the UCL Conservatives as we have found ourselves in the midst of two cracking wine receptions and of course the Rugby final. Shane Greer executive director of the Young Britons Foundation kicked off the term with an insightfull talk on the power of blogs and viral media on the political world, Shane placed emphasis on how ‘virtually’ anyone can get right to the heart of politics through the medium of the internet.

The following Saturday saw a troop of UCL Torys (and associated others) head off to ‘The Evangelist’ in the City to quaff various sauces and watch Englands defeat by the ‘Springboks’ on a screen the size of Labours defecit.

Finally a splattering of us headed down to our fellows on The Strand to see Ann Widdecombe give an empassioned speach on the challenges facing the Conservatives and indeed the characters within!

Port & Policy is tommorow where we will be debating ‘inheritance tax’ and ‘benefits’ be sure to come along for free port, nibbles and bucket loads of ‘Tory Tattle’!
