Boris Johnson at KCL
KCL Conservatives were graced with the presence of Conservative Mayoral Candidate Boris Johnson last night. As the official launch to the student division of his campaign lots of ‘Back Boris’ memorabilia was given away including the traditional ‘Back Boris’ Oyster card holders and brightly coloured ‘Back Boris’ posters.
Boris gave a fantastic speech on his plans for London, his views on his opponent Ken ‘newt’ Livingstone as well as including a good dose of the usual Boris jokes and other Borisisms. In his speech he addressed key London issues like the lack of affordable housing for students and young professionals, the congestion charge, tax and the way tax payers’ money is spent, or rather wasted, and the transport within London, both public and private. After a passionate mini speech about cycling and the endless possibilities it holds for London and London commuters he then mentioned the Underground and compared it to other public transport systems in the world. Stating that ‘If Moscow can run an underground where trains appear once every minute why can’t we?’ This was then concluded with a very patriotic and inspiring speech about the United Kingdom and London and how based on our great history we need a capital that truly reflects this.
After a fairly extensive Q and A session about other London issues, such as the statues in Trafalgar Square and social integration of minorities, we then headed to another part of Kings for after speech drinks, networking and a few photographs with Boris before he headed off to his next engagement.
Huge thanks to KCL for this one and Good Luck to Boris in his Mayoral Campaign.

Lol! It’s so close it’s true! We could try and get him to impersonate Boris if we can’t get the real thing for an event!
