Local Association

Our Local Association

Our local association is the Holborn & St Pancras Conservative Association. UCL sits at the heart of Holborn & St Pancras and thus this Association maintains strong links with us. Many current and former Officers and Council candidates have come from UCL and remained in the area. You are also likely to meet a number of the committee members at our annual Alumni Dinner.

Since 2004, the President of UCL Conservative Society has been an ex-officio member of the Executive Council of HSPCA. In 2013, HSPCA reformed it’s relationship with UCL Conservatives and now recognises all of UCL’s members as student members of HSPCA.

Our Constituency

UCL is situated within the Holborn & St. Pancras parliamentary constituency. This is a large slender constituency stretching from Covent Garden in the south to Highgate in the North and has one of the largest and most diverse electorates in the UK. The constituency contains some of the most famous institutions in England, ranging from the British Museum and British Library, King’s Cross and Euston stations, Primrose Hill and Camden Market, Parliament Hill and Highgate Cemetery, UCL (the 4th best University in the World!), LSE, Kings College, many other Universities of London and of course, yours truly, the UCLU Conservative Society!

UCL itself sits within the Bloomsbury ward. There are 10 other wards, Camden Town with Primrose Hill, Cantelowes, Gospel Oak, Haverstock, Highgate, Holborn & Covent Garden, Kentish Town, King’s Cross, Regent’s Park, St Pancras & Somers Town.

Our incumbent MP is the notorious Frank (I still live in a council house) Dobson. Not only is he a Labour MP, but he is a bad one at that. The Society continues to look forward to helping out local Conservatives in future elections!
