Geoffrey Howe Event

Dear all, you are cordially invited to come and hear former Conservative politician Geoffrey Howe speak to our society. He was Margaret Thatcher’s longest-serving Cabinet minister and successively held the posts of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Foreign Secretary and finally Leader of the House of Commons and Deputy Prime Minister. His resignation on 1 November 1990 is widely considered to have hastened  Mrs Thatcher’s own downfall three weeks later.

This event will be held in the Pearson Lecture theatre on March 15th at 8pm. The event will be free to members, £3 to all students (on presentation of a valid student card) and £5 to the general public.

We look forward to welcoming you to the highlight of our second term events.

In the interest of free speech, these comments are unmoderated. Please do, however, bear in mind the words of Lady Margaret Thatcher: "If they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left."
