Introducing the Committee p.1

Over the next week I will be posting introductions from each member of the committee. The committee is the executive body of the society and organises our events and all aspects of society life. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of the committee members if you have an idea for an event or would like to get involved in any of their specific areas of responsibility.

Our first officer is Jon Woodcraft – Social Action and Outreach Officer

“I’m currently 2nd year Russian and German student at SSEES and responsible for social action projects and widening the diversity of membership in the society. For those of you unfamiliar to the term ‘social action’ within the Conservative Party, it is a national programme based on compassionate conservative values, which for example aims to tackle social poverty in disadvantaged communities, provide those that are disaffected from politics a chance to contribute and have responsibility within their communities. Finally, we demonstrate our commitment to the environment and climate change through conservation projects in our local area. Our first ever social action event will be on the 30th October – more info to come soon!

Politically, I’m more to the left of the party but also a staunch libertarian as well! Aside from politics, I like to travel as much as possible, particularly around eastern europe and central asia. I’m pretty social and can often be seen in the union or court and afterwards the roxy or moonies! If you’ve got any questions feel free to email me!”

In the interest of free speech, these comments are unmoderated. Please do, however, bear in mind the words of Lady Margaret Thatcher: "If they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left."
