Policy Debate – January 31st

On the 31st January UCL Conservatives hosted their first Policy Debate on the subject of Constitutional Reform.
We we were joined by an impressive panel including Conor Burns MP, Dr Andrew Lilico from ConservativeHome, Ryan Shorthouse from the Bright Blue Campaign group and Tim Barnes, a former Tory Reform Group Chairman and former UCL Conservatives’ President!
The topics covered included the House of Lords, Scottish Independence and Electoral Reform. Of particular interest was the panel’s condemnation of the Alternative Vote and support for appointed Peers in the Upper House.
All members had a great time contributing to some robust debate from the panel, learning a lot about the issues from expert individuals. Members can definitely look forward to more debates like this soon! Thank you very much to all our panelists for their interesting and vibrant discussion.
